The Mumlawy Waterfall (Czech: Mumlavský vodopád) is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Karkonosze Mountains, located near Harrachov.
The waterfall has a height of about 9 m, and the plunge pool at its base is 6 meters deep, while the cascade has a height of about 10 m. The waterfall lies on the Mumlawa stream, which begins at Mumlavská Meadow. Then the waters of the stream flow towards Harrachov, creating numerous smaller and larger cascades and plunge pools formed over thousands of years.
How to get to the Mumlawy Waterfall?
The easiest way is from Harrachov - the blue trail from the town center towards the Labská bouda shelter or the yellow trail connecting parts of Harrachov: Rýžoviště and Nový Svět. Nearby, there is the Mumlavská bouda shelter and the popular tourist restaurant "U lišáka" - so there is a place to recharge before further hiking. The road is asphalted, making it a very good option for elderly people and families with strollers.
By car or train?
By car - near the Harrachov bus station there is a paid parking lot, from which you immediately enter a bridge over the road (blue trail), this walk to the waterfall itself takes about 20 minutes.
By train - travel from Szklarska Poręba Górna to Harrachov station. The distance from the station to the waterfall is about 5 km, and walking it takes about 1.5 hours.
